All available French or English measures designed to assess preschool age children’s general, cognitive, language and sensorimotor development where identified. Experts (n=26) where then asked to review the 181 measures documented. Results revealed that 66.8 % of the tools where known, 38.7 % were recommended by two or more experts and 6.7 % by 10 experts or more. The majority of the more popular measures were in English and some had very little or outdated validation. An increased interest toward evidence-based assessment taking local aspects into account is necessary to improve clinical practice with young children.
