I grew up between steeple and stove. My father was a pastor and my mother a professional cook. They became acquainted, I think, at a wedding ceremony where the one nourished the soul and the other the body. They noticed each other, they liked each other, they got married, and I was born. Their mutual “kitchens” must have suited them both.
