Améliorer la participation sociale des personnes à mobilité réduite : identification des besoins à intégrer dans une application mobile

Abstract(s)
Introduction : La participation sociale est un objectif principal de la réadaptation des personnes
en situation de mobilité réduite. Le manque d’information pertinent à l’accessibilité des endroits
publiques reste un facteur limitant la participation sociale optimale.
Objectifs : (1) Identifier les obstacles et les facilitateurs à la participation sociale chez les
personnes à mobilité réduite; (2) Identifier les besoins à intégrer à une application mobile qui
pourrait faciliter cette participation sociale.
Stratégie méthodologique : Cette étude exploratrice qualitative a utilisé la technique d’entrevue
téléphonique individuelle semi-structurée avec les usagers potentiels de l’application mobile.
Onze personnes à mobilité réduite, une proche aidante, et deux commerçants ont complété les
entrevues ainsi qu’un questionnaire sociodémographique. Un cadre conceptuel basé sur le
Modèle de Développement Humain – Processus de Production du Handicap (MDH-PPH) a été
utilisé pour orienter l’analyse des données.
Résultats : Les facteurs environnementaux du MDH-PPH brimant la participation sociale
incluaient les barrières architecturales, l’aménagement du territoire inadéquat et les règles
sociales limitant la sensibilisation de la société quant aux besoins d’accessibilité. Parmi les
facteurs facilitants, la présence d’un réseau social et la préservation d’aptitudes motrices ont été
identifiés. L’application mobile devra offrir de l’information objective et géo-localisée sur
l’accessibilité, et ce, spécifique au profil de capacités de la personne. Le besoin pour une
plateforme d’échange intégrée à l’application est aussi ressorti.
Conclusion : Le développement d’une application mobile pourrait optimiser la participation
sociale en permettant le réseautage pour les personnes ayant des incapacités et en facilitant
l’accès à l’information précise sur l’accessibilité des lieux.
