De plus en plus, les bibliothèques tentent de joindre leurs usagers là où ils se trouvent. Conçue dans cette optique, la barre d’outils LibX s’intègre au navigateur web de l’usager, et permet d’ajouter de nombreuses fonctionnalités liées à la recherche d’information. La barre LibX a été développée à l’Université Virginia Tech. Elle est aujourd’hui utilisée dans plus de 500 bibliothèques publiques et universitaires à travers le monde, dont quelques-unes au Québec. LibX est disponible gratuitement. Son implantation nécessite une certaine configuration locale par la bibliothèque avant d’être distribuée aux usagers. Notre présentation passe d’abord en revue les différentes fonctionnalités de LibX : raccourcis, boîte de recherche, indicateurs, menu contextuel, etc. Par la suite, le processus de configuration et d’implantation sera abordé. Au passage, les avantages et les limites de cet outil seront mis en lumière.
