Abstract(s)
Dedicated to the theatrical adaptation of Jean Teulé's novel Eat him if you like by Jean-Christophe Dollé and Clotilde Morgiève du Fouic Théâtre, the present dissertation seeks to understand why and how the multisensory staging of this news tends to arouse two contradictory effects: immersion and distancing. The reflection is organized in three stages: the first chapter questions the transition from the novel to the theater using theories of adaptation and transmodalization, the second is focused more on the scenic dimension and, relying on the intermedial theory, attempt to highlight the processes allowing multisensoriality. Finally, the third chapter reveals the play of the senses as a staging of perception that places the viewer at the heart of the performance. At the end of the analysis, it appears that immersion and distancing must necessarily work together for the spectator to be involved.
