| fr |
dcterms.abstract | Depth of field can be defined as the zone of tolerance in which the eye cannot distinguish between sharpness and blurriness. In other words, it is nothing other than a blurry space which is seen as being sharp. Focusing, which has an essential function in cinema, is thus just as much a matter of perception as it is of image recording technology. The theoretical and practical consequences of this fact will be explored here from both a scholarly and a practical point of view. Questions around filming conditions will be examined in relation to measuring depth of field and the aesthetic aspects associated with these technical and perceptive variables. | en |
