Adaptation de la thérapie d’acceptation et d’engagement pour la réduction des inquiétudes et l’augmentation de l’attention chez les gens présentant un TAG : étude de cas pré-expérimentale

Le trouble d’anxiété généralisée (TAG) touche 2,6% de la population au Canada. Les inquiétudes, vécues quotidiennement, sont les principales manifestations du TAG. Elles ont un effet nocif sur le bien-être, mais aussi sur le fonctionnement quotidien, car elles modulent l’attention et l’orientent vers des stimuli internes ou externes jugés comme étant menaçants. Pour intervenir auprès de ces personnes, il est suggéré que les interventions basées sur l’acceptation et la pleine conscience auraient un effet important sur la flexibilité psychologique et l’orientation de l’attention. Toutefois, il existe peu d’études actuellement qui ont investigué ces effets sur le fonctionnement cognitif lors d’un TAG. L’objectif de cette étude est d’explorer si, à la suite d’un programme d’intervention cognitivo-comportementale basé sur l’acceptation et la pleine conscience, les participants souffrant d’un TAG présentent une amélioration de leur fonctionnement attentionnel, ainsi qu’une diminution des inquiétudes et de l’anxiété. Une étude de cas menée avec un devis pré-expérimental a été réalisée auprès de quatre participantes présentant un TAG. Cette étude constitue donc une preuve de concept. Plus spécifiquement, les participantes ont participé à un programme de dix séances et ont effectué à trois reprises une batterie de tests neuropsychologiques et des questionnaires psychologiques. Les analyses n’ont pas révélé de changement sur le fonctionnement attentionnel après le programme d’intervention. Des améliorations ont toutefois été observées quant aux inquiétudes, à l’anxiété et sur le plan de la propension à la pleine conscience. Nous suggérons de poursuivre l’utilisation de la pleine conscience (ainsi que de l’acceptation et engagement qui en font partie) dans le traitement des gens ayant un TAG, par la mise en place de protocoles de recherche contrôlés et randomisés.
